What We Do
The Operations and Business Services department plays a vital role in supporting the schools by managing the essential services and resources that keep them running smoothly. This includes overseeing facilities maintenance, custodial needs, transportation, food services, and safety operations. By handling the logistical aspects of school operations, the department ensures that educators and students can focus on teaching and learning in a safe, efficient, and well-equipped environment.
Our mission is to deliver exceptional service and create safe, supportive environments where students can thrive—whether that's getting them to school safely, maintaining welcoming spaces, or supporting their growth as future leaders.
Our Custodial and Maintenance teams take pride in caring for district facilities. Through proactive maintenance, we address renovation, repair, and replacement needs to keep our buildings safe, efficient, and up to date.
Thanks to strong community support, we've made significant district-wide improvements over the years. In November 2023, nearly 70% of voters approved a 1.5-mill Permanent Improvement Levy, generating about $1.8 million annually for long-term facility upgrades—such as HVAC systems, building repairs, new buses, and infrastructure projects.
We've also conducted energy audits and developed a capital improvement plan to boost efficiency and reduce costs through conservation efforts. We remain committed to being responsible stewards of taxpayer resources, and the progress we've made reflects our dedication to the future of Orange City Schools.
