Mental Wellness
Mental health is a top priority in Orange City Schools, reflecting the community’s commitment to supporting the whole child. In the District’s 2023 parent survey, mental health emerged as the number one concern, leading it to be named Goal 1, Objective 1 in Orange’s strategic plan. Currently, Orange employs seven full-time guidance counselors and contracts with three social workers and a SAY counselor to ensure students have access to qualified mental health professionals across all grade levels.
In response to both the 2023 and Spring 2024 parent surveys, the District has enhanced its Tiered Supports by embedding the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESA) and the Social-Emotional Competency Assessment (SECA) screeners. Mental health is now a foundational element of Orange’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework, reinforcing the District’s dedication to fostering resilience, emotional well-being, and academic success for every student.
