Aanya Chepyala Named Kiwanis Senior of the Month for February

Congratulations to OHS senior Aanya Chepyala, who has been named the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle “SENIOR OF THE MONTH” for February 2026. Service, integrity, and leadership are core values for Aanya, who shares her passion for positivity in every facet of her life.
Her academic prowess is evident through her scholarly achievement as she excels in more than a dozen AP classes and has been recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction. Aanya is Vice President of the National Honor Society, assisting at various events around the community. She became a Rensselaer Medalist in her junior year for outstanding achievement in mathematics and science. A National Recognition Awardee, Aanya is also on the Highest Honor Roll and is a recipient of the National Hispanic Award.
Aanya’s astute understanding of database navigation is a key asset in her ongoing fellowship with Akron General. As a researcher, she has authored and submitted research for publication, presented at the Association of Indian Physicians of Northern Ohio conferences on the use of artificial intelligence in acute pediatric kidney injury, and served as a peer mentor. She has completed a course in Arduino, an open-source electronic prototyping platform that enables users to create interactive electronic objects, and is currently learning Python, a high-level, general-purpose programming language.
For the past two years, Aanya has assisted with the annual Kiwanis Rummage Sale, which raises funds to help children and those in need in our community and around the world. But her volunteer service doesn’t stop there. She, along with some of her classmates, introduced the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fundraiser to the school community. Named a Student Visionary of the year, Aanya helped to raise money for those in need in Ohio and for future research to find a cure. As part of the initiative, Aanya volunteered at food stands and created crafts to be sold at Van Aken Market Hall.
Aanya’s creative side has also shone as Lead Trombone Player in the OHS Marching Lion Band and as a Primary Player in the Wind Ensemble, earning State Recognition multiple times. She has served as a Section Leader and mentor to other musicians and performed in the Dazzle-nominated Pit Orchestra for the Orange High School musicals.
When not performing on the field or in the concert hall, Aanya can be found achieving success in the natatorium. The Swim Team Captain, Aanya was invited to the State Competition the past two years and competed as a B-Finalist in 200 free and 400 free relays last year. She has medaled at Districts and in the Chagrin Valley Conference in multiple events, all the while training and mentoring younger students.
Every school year, the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle recognizes six seniors for their leadership, integrity, and academic achievements. We thank the Kiwanis Club for its ongoing support and congratulate Aanya Chepyala as the February Senior of the Month!
