The Brady Middle School Power of the Pen 7th and 8th grade teams were each awarded First Place at the Lake Erie District 1 Tournament at Kenston Middle School held recently. BMS 7th grader Cinyi Zhang also brought home a 3rd place individual trophy. BMS eighth graders also had good individual showings with Beks Toth finishing 7th place, Elizabeth Zaraa finishing in 11th place, and Bennet Harvat finishing in 12th place. The 12 BMS writers and two alternates were among nearly 200 writers competing from 21 schools. During the course of the competition, the students wrote nearly 600 stories collectively.

Eighth-grade members, along with Toth, Zaraa, and Harvat, included Elena Brateanu, Indra Iyer, Violet Thorman, and alternate Navya Kambhampati. The seventh-grade team includes Kathryn Ghoul, Sylvia Goshe, Adriana Khater, Caroline Reidhead, Esme Yee, and Zhang, along with alternate Priya Miller-Rao. The next competition will be the Regional Tournament at Hudson Middle School on February 28, 2026
