Dear Orange Schools Families and Community,
As you likely heard, the biennial budget has moved out of the Conference Committee to Governor DeWine’s desk for his approval.
Issues still at hand:
The carryover cap we contacted you about previously, while increased to 40% from 30%, is still a threat to Orange and public schools in general. Capping this balance will have a negative impact on our district. You can refer to our previous communications about this if need be.
Furthermore, vouchers have been further expanded, including a new “savings account program” for non-public, non-chartered schools which divert even more taxpayer money to private school tuition, etc.
What can you do?
Contact Governor DeWine requesting him to use his veto powers to help limit the damage to Orange and other public schools. Linked here you will find talking points to use when calling the governor. This template can also be used to email him in addition to your call. He has until the end of the day June 30th to sign the bill, so please act soon.

Please know that your continued advocacy and support for our schools is greatly appreciated, and let’s hope the governor sees fit to veto these items.
Sincerely,
Lynn Campbell
Superintendent of Schools
