Welcome back!

We are so excited to start the 2021-2022 school year!  We hope you all had a safe and relaxing summer break!  We have been working diligently to serve your students in the safest and most nutritious meals so they can excel at their studies this year.

All Lunch Meals will be free to all students again this year, regardless of income status.  A lunch meal must contain 3 of the 5 lunch components (meat/meat alt, grain, fruit, vegetable, and milk) with one being a fruit or vegetable.  We will also have our ala carte items (snacks, drinks, extra entrees, etc) available for sale at an added cost. 

**Instead of using the PIN pads for students to type in their PIN number we will be utilizing scanners to scan lunch cards.  These cards will be distributed on the first day of school to students in their homerooms. Students in grades K-5 will have their cards kept at school in their classrooms.  Students in Grades 6-12 will be responsible to bring their cards to scan in the cafeteria.  If a student has a phone, they can take a pic of the card and scan the pic if they so choose.

**Meal applications only need to be filled out by students who are NEW to the district who feel they financially qualify or by students who already attend Orange Schools who feel their income has changed and they qualify for the program.  This information will be used for the P-EBT benefits.  It will not impact the ability to get free meals this year.  

We encourage parents to put funds into the student’s accounts via to the students returning to school.  If you are not comfortable using the online process, we still do accept checks and cash  in the designated Food Service mailboxes at each school. Please make checks out to the Orange Board of Education and put your student’s name in the memo line.   Funds must be put on prior to student purchasing any items in the cafeteria.

Attached is a Household Information survey.  We would like ALL families to complete this and return it to the Food Service Department (Cindy Alekna SNS 32000 Chagrin Blvd.  Pepper Pike, OH  44124 or or give to the cafeteria staff at each school).  This information will help determine to determine eligibility for various additional state and federal program benefits that your child’s school may qualify for. This form will also determine if your student is eligible for a waiver for their school fees and will take the place of the Fee Waiver form that has been used in prior years when we collected meal applications for all students. This will also be mailed to each household via USPS.
