Orange High School’s The Flying Circuits robotics team, Team 1787, won the Buckeye Regional competitiion last weekend in Cleveland, OH. A total of 56 teams, including participants from as far as Türkiye, faced off in 94 qualification matches followed by a double elimination playoff bracket. After the qualification rounds, the Flying Circuits ranked 3rd overall and became one of the 8 alliance captains. As captain, the team selected two alliance partners for the playoffs: Team 695 Bison Robotics from Beachwood, OH, and Team 1559 Devil Tech from Victor, NY.
This alliance worked seamlessly together, defeating four other alliances on their way to the finals, while achieving the high score for the competition along the way. In a best-of-three, winner-takes-all matchup against the number one seeded alliance, the team performed exceptionally well, winning both matches to secure the victory.
This success reflects the hard work and dedication of all Flying Circuits team members. Despite facing many challenges along the way, the team overcame each obstacle with perseverance and determination. It was an incredible conclusion to the official FIRST Robotics season for Team 1787!
