Student Musicians Excel at OMEA

Posted Date: 03/10/2025

Congratulations to the BMS 8th Grade Band, OHS Symphonic Band, OHS Wind Ensemble, and the OHS Choir on their performances at the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Adjudicated Event held at Mentor High School on March 7 and 8.

The OHS Choir participated in large group for the first time. They entered in Festival Class, where they received feedback from the adjudicators but do not receive a rating. For Mr. Philips and the Orange Choir, this was a significant step forward in the growth and evolution of the choir program.

The Brady 8th Grade Band competed in Junior High Class A, and earned an overall rating of Excellent (II). They narrowly missed a Superior rating by 1 point. The Orange HS Symphonic Band, directed by Mr. Jake Robinson, earned an overall Superior (I) rating in Class C, qualifying them for the State-level event for the third time in four years. Our Orange HS Wind Ensemble, directed by Mr. Brandon DuVall, earned straight Superior (I) ratings in Class A for the fourth consecutive year and will also advance to the State-level event.

The OHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will travel to North Royalton HS for OMEA State Band Contest on Friday, May 2nd. Congratulations to all our student musicians on their excellent performances last weekend!
