OHS Earns AP CSA Female Diversity Award

Orange High School recently earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science A (CSA). OHS is one of only 237 schools nationwide to receive this honor for the 2023-24 school year. Schools honored with this award have expanded access to AP computer science courses for female students.

“This award highlights the dedication to improving female representation in computer science, and I want to take a moment to specifically acknowledge the hard work and commitment of (teacher) Erin Cingel in building and growing the ‘AP Computer Science A’ program here at OHS. Her efforts have been invaluable in making this possible,” wrote Amanda McDonald, OHS school counselor .

Award contenders must either have reached 50% or higher female representation in one of the two AP computer science courses or have achieved a percentage of female computer science exam takers that meets or exceeds that of the school’s female population.

“We’re honored that our school earned this distinction and look forward to seeing these young women and others pursue and achieve success in computer science education and careers,” said Jamie Hogue, OHS principal.
