Brady Middle School’s newly formed robotics team made history on December 8, 2024 participating in their first-ever FIRST Lego League Regional Event in Aurora. Ten students represented Brady at the competition, marking a significant milestone for the school’s programming.
The Brady team tackled this year's "Submerged" theme, diving deep into the challenges of ocean exploration. As part of the Innovation Project segment, students developed and presented an original solution and prototype addressing deep-sea exploration challenges.
During the competition, team members showcased their technical expertise through presentations on robotics code and robot design decisions. The event culminated in the Robot Games, where students put their coding skills to the test, programming their robot to complete various Lego-based missions within a challenging 2.5-minute timeframe.
The team was led by coaches Mrs. Mariah Sherer-McClain and Ms. Valerie Pettigrew, with additional support from the Orange High School Robotics Club and Brady Fablab. This collaborative effort helped launch the middle school’s first venture into competitive robotics.
