Orange High School senior Charlie Rubsamen has been named the Kiwanis “Senior of the Month” for November 2023. As president and ‘Head Driver’ of the OHS Robotics Club, Rubsamen has been instrumental in the success of the team in more than 10 competitions including the 2022 World Robotics Championship where the team placed 3rd against 80 teams. A National Merit Commended student, he is an AP Scholar with Distinction and Highest Honors, a member of the National Honor Society and has taken eight AP classes the last two years. He also helped start a club to provide peer tutoring to students after school and is working on a calculator app to help students understand chemistry. He looks forward to mentoring the Brady Middle School FIRST Lego League program he helped initiate in which OHS students provide any needed support during their engineering task.

A volunteer at the annual Kiwanis Rummage Sale, Rubsamen is also the Director of Youth Programming at Temple-Tifereth Israel in Beachwood. Having achieved the rank of 3rd degree black belt, he has also been an assistant instructor in Martial Arts. He has received the Ohio Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish and was named the OHS Homecoming King earlier this year. Every school year, the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle recognizes six seniors for their leadership, integrity, and academic achievements.
