Kiwanis Student of the month Lila Tye

Orange High School senior Lila Tye has been named the Kiwanis “Senior of the Month” for November 2022. The four-year Key Club member is President of Amnesty International, a three-year member of the Student Government, and a three-year member of Mock Trial in which she was a “Best Witness” recipient. Receiving highest honor accolades all four years of high school, she is also the Vice President of Science Olympiad and a member of the National Honor Society.

Tye has earned three Varsity Letters in Track and Field and was recognized as the ‘Most Valuable Female Athlete’ in her junior year. Mentoring is an important attribute for Tye who volunteers with the St. Philip Neri Family Center in Downtown Cleveland where she prepares, cooks, and provides meals to homeless people of all ages on a biweekly basis. She provides childcare to local children in the community. She initiated a project last year entitled “Books 4 Beds” where she ran a book drive to collect books for children staying for long periods at local hospitals and she plans to expand that program this year by engaging other students to read and create bonds with those hospitalized children.

Every school year, the Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle recognizes six seniors for their leadership, integrity, and academic achievements.
