BMS Power of the Pen Outstanding!

The Brady Middle School Power of the Pen teams had an outstanding showing at Districts. The 8th grade team won its tournament, placing first out of all of the 16 schools competing. The 7th grade team placed third overall. Ishan Bhatt and Amarah Udeh won Best Of Round awards.

The 8^th grade team included Ishan Bhatt, Panka Karman, Sophie Lang, Vivian Qi, Anshul Sharma, & Tatev Sargsyan. Out of the 66 8th grade writers, Brady had five writers placing top 20, including Karman (2^nd place), Qi (3^rd place), Lang  (7^th place), Sharma (17^th place), and Bhatt (19^th place). Bhatt was also awarded a Best of Round Award. The 7th grade team included Linchang Zhao, Raina Patel, Lucy Chaisson, Amarah Udeh, Sophia Klein, and Mane Sargsyan. Udeh placed 4th and Patel placed 16th overall out of 83 writers. Udeh also earned a Best Of Round award. 

The virtual district competition, which was hosted by University School, included three 40-minute, back-to-back rounds after students were presented with a never-before-seen writing prompt. Eleven BMS writers including Ishan Bhatt, Panka Karman, Sophie Lang, Vivian Qi, Anshul Sharma, Linchang Zhao, Raina Patel, Lucy Chaisson, Amarah Udeh, Sophia Klein and Mane Sargsyan now move on to Regional Competition which will be held virtually this Month. BMS' 2021-22 Power of the Pen team is coached by Sarah DiBenedetto, Jenna Drozd, Michele Cydulka-Weinstein, and Sarah Moore.
