Kiwanis Student of the Month for Dec 2021

Congratulations to OHS senior Benjamin Scheps who has been named the Kiwanis "SENIOR OF THE MONTH" for December 2021. Ben has served in numerous leadership roles during his years at Orange High School including President of the OHS Band, Vice President of the OHS Environmental Club, 3-year Team Captain and former Treasurer of the OHS Mock Trial team, and former Senior Patrol Leader of Boy Scout Troop 309, recently achieving the rank of Eagle Scout after volunteering hundreds of hours of time to plan and build a shelter at Rescue Village. The Kiwanis Club of Lander Circle recognizes six seniors for their leadership, integrity, and academic achievements every school year. We thank the Kiwanis Club for its ongoing support.

A two-year member of the Tennis team and a one year member of the Track and Field team, Ben serves as one of the captains of the OHS Varsity Cross Country team. Employed as a cashier at Choolaah restaurant, Ben has volunteered his time as a Peer Tutor, a Red Cross Blood Drive volunteer, a Kiwanis Rummage Sale worker, and as a counselor at National Youth Leadership Training through Boy Scouts for two years, offering team and leadership skill-building activities. Having earned a 34 on his ACTs and a cumulative GPA of 4.673, the National Honor Society member is the 2020 recipient of the Williams College Book Award.
