Teachers Receive Grant for LitCon 2021

Congratulations to Moreland Hills School teachers LaShaunta Lake and Amy Lyn Shiever who both wrote grants and received full scholarships to the LitCon 2021 conference, formerly known as The Reading Recovery Conference. They will be recognized before the keynote speeches at the conference. Lake and Shiever were selected from teachers across the United States.

“We felt fortunate to be given this opportunity,” said Shiever, who received her grant from the Tenyo Family Foundation.

“We are honored that two Orange teachers out of all the candidates that applied, received these grants to attend the National Reading Recovery Conference,” added Lake, who received her grant through the RoseMary Estice Memorial Fund.

The LitCon 2021 conference is the largest K-8 literacy conference in North America. Designed by and for educators, sessions focus on best instructional practices for classroom teachers, literacy coaches and specialists, building and district administrators, Title I teachers and coordinators, interventionists and ELL teachers, curriculum and language arts specialists, and Reading Recovery professionals. This year’s conference will be held virtually this month.
