class of 2020

Dear Orange Class of 2020 Families,

As the end of the school year draws near, we are committed to celebrating the Orange High School Class of 2020! We are excited to share the events that will take place to commemorate and acknowledge our seniors through special recognitions, so mark your calendars!

May 7 - Senior Signing Celebration

Our annual Senior Signing Day is always a great way for our 12th grade students to proudly announce where they are commencing following graduation. The OHS Guidance Department has developed a Senior Signing Day slideshow that was shared with students, parents and staff today (5/7). It will also be posted to the District social media pages. Thank you to those students who participated and sent in their photos.

May 22 - Prom Promenade

On Friday, May 22 there will be a Prom Promenade at a to be determined location. Two large “Class of 2020” yard signs will be on display and students can sign-up for a specific 10-minute time slot to have their pictures professionally taken. Each student will be provided one free picture package.

May 27 - Senior Awards Night

Senior Awards Night is set for Wednesday, May 27! Orange High School will celebrate with an online recognition of our seniors with awards in Academics, Athletics and the Arts.

May 31 - Virtual Commencement Program

On May 31, graduating seniors will don their caps and gowns and get ready to celebrate with our virtual commencement program at 6 pm. All graduates will be acknowledged. “Pomp and Circumstance,” the National Anthem, and the Orange Alma Mater will be performed. Speeches will be made by the Class of 2020 Valedictorian and a special guest speaker. There will also be a surprise visitor or two!

This commencement celebration will be made available to families online. All members of the Class of 2020 will receive a copy as a keepsake.

Mid-Late June - In-Person Presentation of Diplomas

As we move into the summer and with the possibility of restrictions on public gatherings being lessened by the governor’s office, we will offer graduates the opportunity to receive their diploma in person with their families sometime in mid/late June.

Each graduate will receive a designated 5-minute time slot to report to the school (OHS Auditorium or Stadium - TBD) along with 4 family members. Every student will have their name called, proceed to the stage, receive their diploma, turn their tassel, and exit the stage. Each graduate will have a professional picture taken in cap and gown when they receive their diploma and again as they exit the stage turning their tassel and/or tossing their cap. A recording of this live event will be included in the Class of 2020 keepsake.

As with everything during this remote learning period, please continue to look for upcoming communications from the District and the OHS administration.

Thank you and stay safe,

Dr. Lynn Campbell

Superintendent
