MHS Inventors Send 4 Projects to States

Congratulations to the students whose four projects advance onto the state level Invention Convention competition at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus this July. The creators are:  Madison Dickson and Daphne Colich for "Easy Green," Isabel Benson and Caroline Jang for "Ocean Sweeper," Hayden Spies for "The Loaded Jig," and Sarah Korland and Alena Ashby for "4 in 1 Rocking Cradle." 

More than 30 Moreland Hills School fifth graders innovated, designed and created 18 projects to make people's lives easier and better as part of the Invention Convention. The projects included: The Bank Box, 5-in-1 Food Tray, Singing Syringe, The E.Z. Clean, The Safe Bag, The Smart Lock, Pots for Life, Reuse-A-Lead, The Fidget Pencil, Cough Gum, Hegyes Helmet, Easy Squeeze, The Omnicompetent Organizer, and The Bill Box, among others. Students were assigned to groups and then had to identify a problem, research viable, original solutions, create a hypothesis and build and test their prototype. The fifth graders had to write an "elevator pitch" that they presented to judges and also had to answer the judges' questions as they shared their findings.
