Brady Named Grand Champions in Power of Pen

power of the penOut of 37 competing teams at last month’s Power of the Pen Regional Contest, Brady Middle School's Teams earned the tournament "Grand Champion" title with both the eighth grade and seventh grade teams garnering first place in each division respectively. A record number of 10 Brady students qualified to compete in the prestigious "Pen Ohio" State Tournament at the College of Wooster on Friday, May 25, 2018.

Those students are eighth graders Emma Snyder-Lovera, Margot Sanders, Ava Rezaee, Sophia Madden, and George Outcalt, and seventh graders Ethan Vincent, Anna Wolf, Ethan Jaffe, Kynnedi Giles-Watkins, and Kymille Giles-Watkins. At the Regional Tournament held at Shaker Heights Middle School at the end of April, Anna Wolf placed first and Kymille Giles-Watkins placed fifth individually out of all competing seventh graders. Other team members helping to earn the first place team titles included seventh graders Jasmine Shone and alternates Nathan Rice and Remy Perry and eighth grader Natalya Bricker. The team coaches are teachers Jeff Kapostasy, Lee McClain, Sarah DiBenedetto, and Jenna Drozd.  Nearly 200 students from 19 school districts around Northeast Ohio competed at the regional contest.
