Platko Named as New Treasurer

Headshot of new treasurer Gary PlatkoThe Orange City School District Board of Education approved the hiring of Mr. Gary Platko as the District's new treasurer, effective August 1, 2025 through July 31, 2028. The board approved Platko's appointment during its special session meeting on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. He will succeed current treasurer Mr. Todd Puster, who announced his retirement after serving the district since 2015.

Platko returns to Orange Schools with extensive experience in school finance. He previously served as the District’s assistant treasurer from 2014-2016 and most recently held the position of treasurer at the Riverside Local School District for nine years from 2016-2025. While serving as treasurer of Riverside Schools, the district earned the Ohio Auditor of State Award for each year under his leadership.

As treasurer, Platko will oversee all financial operations of the district, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting. He will also serve as the district's chief financial officer.

Platko was previously an accountant/analyst at Cuyahoga Community College and an assistant auditor at the Auditor of State of Ohio. He received his Master’s Degree in Accounting from Baldwin Wallace University in 2010. Platko is a licensed school treasurer and licensed school business manager in the state of Ohio, a certified public accountant, and a member of the Ohio Association of School Business Officials. He and his family reside in Mentor, Ohio.
